What a year it has been.
Two semesters ago, our team was preparing for what we hoped would be a fruitful and busy pilot project. We wanted to deliver the best musical education experience to as many young students as possible – and the weekly lessons at Verdun Elementary, as well as the workshops at Giant Steps and Riverview, were all critical first strides in our goal. We taught a dynamic, fun, and extremely engaged group of kids at all three institutions, for which we could not be prouder or more grateful. Thank you to all of our weekly volunteers and teachers, without whom we could not have run our programs nor have achieved all of the important milestones we have. Thank you to our generous donors and sponsors, without whom our students would not have access to quality instruments with which to practice and nurture their budding skills.
Although the summer offers a much-needed break for our volunteers and instructors, our admin team will continue to organize and reflect on the experiences we’ve had over the months. We’ve learned a lot, but there is always room for improvement.
Meanwhile, our Kickstarter campaign, which concluded recently with much success, has given us the ability to purchase more instruments and expand our resources to accommodate even more students in the upcoming school year. We will keep you updated on that on our Kickstarter page; please stay tuned for more updates on this blog in the fall!
Wishing all of you a wonderful summer,
The SoMM Team
